PHILADELPHIA: The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has hired LaMonte J. Williams as its Deputy Chief Counsel for Administration, Board Chairman Thomas A. Decker said today.

Williams, currently Director of the Bureau of Equal Opportunity in the Commonwealth's Office of Administration, will also serve as the Gaming Board's Equal Employment Opportunity Officer, Decker said.

"LaMonte has been an outstanding Director of the Bureau of Equal Opportunity for the Commonwealth, and we look forward to having him on our staff," Decker said.

Before joining the Office of Administration, Williams was an associate at the law firm Shumaker Williams in Camp Hill. He served as a legal specialist in the Judge Advocate General’s Office while serving in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. Williams was also a consultant at United Concordia Cos., also in Camp Hill, and a supervisor of benefits coordination at Highmark/Pennsylvania Blue Shield.

Williams earned his law degree from the Dickinson School of Law in Carlisle. He received an MBA and a B.S. in economic/business & finance from Mount Saint Mary’s College in Emmitsburg, Md. He lives in Harrisburg.

The Gaming Control Board, created by Act 71 of 2004, is charged with overseeing the expansion of gaming in the Commonwealth. The Board unanimously approved the hiring of Williams during a meeting in Philadelphia on March 15.
