HARRISBURG: The Pennsylvania Supreme Court today affirmed the licensing decision of the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board to award a Category 2 slot machine license to PITG Gaming, LLC.

Gaming Control Board Chairman Tad Decker said that the Board is pleased that the Court upheld a decision that was reached only after a very in-depth process to choose the best facility for Pittsburgh and the Commonwealth.

"As we have expressed on a number of occasions, the Board had a very difficult task of choosing only one licensee from three excellent applicants in Pittsburgh," Decker said. "But, as the Court affirmed, our process and decision to award a license to Mr. Barden and PITG Gaming was correct."

Decker added that this decision by the Supreme Court is not only important to the western part of the Commonwealth, but to all Pennsylvanians who are awaiting the benefits from the expansion of legalized gaming including property tax relief, economic development, and new living wage jobs.

The ruling was a result of appeals filed by IOC Pittsburgh, Inc. (Isle of Capri) and Station Square Gaming, LP, both of which were applicants denied a license in December by the Board for a stand alone slot operator license in Pittsburgh.

Under the state Gaming Act, the Supreme Court is vested with exclusive appellate jurisdiction to consider appeals of any final order, determination or decision of the board involving the approval, issuance, denial or conditioning of a slot machine license.
