HARRISBURG, PA: The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board’s Director of Gaming Laboratory Operations, Michael Cruz, will address attendees of the 6th Annual Gaming Technology Summit during a roundtable session called “Server-Based Games.”

The Gaming Technology Summit is the gaming industry’s premier technology conference that brings together gaming regulators, operators and vendors. The summit focuses on the current state of server-based games, likely rollout schedules for these cutting-edge types of games, and the impact they will have on operations and customers.

Server-based gaming is the newest trend in casino gaming technology that allows a casino operator to connect all slot machines to a game server in the casino. This allows the operator to dynamically tailor their slot floor to their patrons as games can be downloaded from the central game server directly to a slot machine on the floor. The technology driving these games also allows greater oversight and security to the regulator since there is one central repository for approved software that can be used in a slot machine.

"Server-based games have been touted as the slot product of the future for over two years, but major roll-outs of these games have yet to occur," Cruz says. "We anticipate that this technology will be used soon in Pennsylvania and have made sure our Gaming Lab and staff are prepared to approve requests to place these on the gaming floors."

A biography of Michael Cruz is available on the Gaming Control Board’s web site at www.pgcb.state.pa.us under the About PGCB/Executive Staff tab.
