PA GAMING CONTROL BOARD HEARING ON SUGARHOUSE CASINO PETITION MOVED TO PHILADELPHIA

HARRISBURG: The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board today announced its scheduled hearing on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 to consider the HSP Gaming, L.P. (SugarHouse Casino) requests for additional time to make slot machines available to play and to make modifications to its approved development plan has been moved from Harrisburg to Philadelphia

Gaming Control Board Chairman Mary DiGiacomo Colins said the change was made to better accommodate those individuals who wish to attend the hearing to view the proceedings or testify.  Colins said more details regarding the time and location of the hearing would be released within the next couple of days

The Board had previously announced that it is accepting both oral and written public comment which will become part of the evidentiary record in this matter.  Updated information on how to register as a speaker or submit written comments will also be placed on the web site.

About the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board is tasked to oversee all aspects of gambling involving 17 land-based casinos, online casino games, retail and online sports wagering, and Video Gaming Terminals (VGTs) at qualified truck stops, along with the regulation of online fantasy sports contests.


The land-based casino industry in Pennsylvania consists of six racetrack (Category 1) casinos, five stand-alone (Category 2) casinos, two resort (Category 3) casinos and four mini-casinos (Category 4). A significant job generator in the Commonwealth, casinos and the other types of Board-regulated gaming generated $2.8 billion in tax revenue and fees in 2024/25.
