PA Gaming Control Board Reports Year-Over-Year Gaming Revenue Rise of 6.5% in April

HARRISBURG, PA:   The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) reported today that the combined total revenue generated from all forms of gaming including fantasy contests during April 2026 was $594,978,674 or 6.49% above revenue generated in April 2025. The resulting tax revenue during April of this year was $255,257,991*.

 

Types of gaming regulated by the agency are slot machines and table games in casinos, internet gaming, sports wagering, fantasy contests, and video gaming terminals (“VGTs”).

The following chart compiles all revenue generated in April 2026 by casinos, along with fantasy contests and VGTs operated by other vendors and includes a comparison to total revenue generated in April 2025. The chart includes the newly opened Happy Valley Casino which began generating slot machine and table games revenue on April 24th.

April’s revenue from the play of retail slot machines was $206,672,817, a 1.76% increase in revenue when compared to the $203,094,831 generated in April 2025.

 

The number of slot machines in operation in April 2026 was 24,856 compared to 24,363 at the casinos in April 2025.

April 2026 total sports wagering handle was $641,566,630 or 9.84% below the April 2025 handle of $711,569,216.  The taxable revenue figure for April 2026 was $58,953,160, or 38.60% higher when compared to April 2025, when taxable revenue was $42,533,444.

Video Gaming Terminals

 

Total adjusted revenue for April 2026 for video gaming terminals (VGTs) was $3,694,483 or 4.99% higher than April 2025 when revenue was $3,518,821. By the end of April 2026, all VGT Operators offered the maximum permitted five machines at each of the 76 qualified truck stop establishments, compared to five machines at each of the 72 establishments at this time last year.

About the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board is tasked to oversee all aspects of gambling involving 18 land-based casinos, online casino games, retail and online sports wagering, and Video Gaming Terminals (VGTs) at qualified truck stops, along with the regulation of online fantasy sports contests.
