Gaming Control Board Reports Year-Over-Year 15.4% Increase in Revenue for June 2025

HARRISBURG, PA: The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) reported today that the combined total revenue generated from all forms of gaming, along with fantasy contests, during June 2025 was $544,672,554, an increase of 15.40% compared to revenue generated in June 2024.

 

Sources of gaming revenue regulated by the PGCB include slot machines, table games, internet gaming, sports wagering, fantasy contests and video gaming terminals (VGTs). The PGCB has posted separate reports for these types of gaming on its website, https://gamingcontrolboard.pa.gov/.  

 

Total tax revenue generated collectively through all forms of gaming and fantasy contests was $229,758,408* during June 2025.

 

The following chart compiles all revenue generated in June 2025 by casinos, along with fantasy contests and VGTs operated by other vendors and includes a comparison to total revenue generated in June 2024.

Retail Slot Machine Revenue

 

This June’s revenue from the play of retail slot machines was $199,274,153, a 0.85% decrease in revenue when compared to the $200,973,707 generated in June 2024. 

 

The number of slot machines in operation in June 2025 was 24,349 compared to 24,731 at the casinos in June 2024.

Sports Wagering Revenue

 

June 2025, total sports wagering handle was $483,637,356 or 4.11% above the June 2024 total of $464,534,792. 

 

At the same time, the taxable revenue figure for June 2025 was $51,236,554, or 71.40% higher when compared to June 2024, when taxable revenue was $29,893,121.

Tax revenue generated from sports wagering during June 2025 was $18,445,159*.

 

Video Gaming Terminals

 

Total adjusted revenue for June 2025 for video gaming terminals (VGTs) was $3,368,257, or 2.20% lower than June 2024 when revenue was $3,443,964. By the end of June 2025, all VGT Operators offered the maximum permitted five machines at 75 qualified truck stop establishments, compared to five machines at 74 establishments at this time last year.

About the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board is tasked to oversee all aspects of gambling involving 17 land-based casinos, online casino games, retail and online sports wagering, and Video Gaming Terminals (VGTs) at qualified truck stops, along with the regulation of online fantasy sports contests.


The land-based casino industry in Pennsylvania consists of six racetrack (Category 1) casinos, five stand-alone (Category 2) casinos, two resort (Category 3) casinos and four mini-casinos (Category 4). A significant job generator in the Commonwealth, casinos and the other types of Board-regulated gaming generated $2.66 billion in tax revenue and fees in 2024.
