Gaming Control Board Reports a Revenue Increase of Over 11% in July

HARRISBURG, PA:   The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) reported today that the combined total revenue generated from all forms of gaming, along with fantasy contests, during July 2025 was $557,666,142, an increase of 11.36% compared to revenue generated in July 2024.

 

Sources of gaming revenue regulated by the PGCB include slot machines, table games, internet gaming, sports wagering, fantasy contests and video gaming terminals (VGTs). The PGCB has posted separate reports for these types of gaming on its website, https://gamingcontrolboard.pa.gov/.  

 

Total tax revenue generated collectively through all forms of gaming and fantasy contests was $238,543,797* during July 2025.

 

The following chart compiles all revenue generated in July 2025 by casinos, along with fantasy contests and VGTs operated by other vendors and includes a comparison to total revenue generated in July 2024.

This July’s revenue from the play of retail slot machines was $208,544,117, a 2.07% increase in revenue when compared to the $204,305,305 generated in July 2024. 

 

The number of slot machines in operation in July 2025 was 24,362 compared to 24,709 at the casinos in July 2024.

July 2025, total sports wagering handle was $412,477,357 or 0.53% below the July 2024 total of $414,673,804. 

 

At the same time, the taxable revenue figure for July 2025 was $40,578,753, or 5.22% higher when compared to July 2024, when taxable revenue was $38,565,690.

Video Gaming Terminals

 

Total adjusted revenue for July 2025 for video gaming terminals (VGTs) was $3,462,043, or 1.05% lower than July 2024 when revenue was $3,498,777. By the end of July 2025, all VGT Operators offered the maximum permitted five machines at 73 qualified truck stop establishments, compared to five machines at 74 establishments at this time last year.

About the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board is tasked to oversee all aspects of gambling involving 17 land-based casinos, online casino games, retail and online sports wagering, and Video Gaming Terminals (VGTs) at qualified truck stops, along with the regulation of online fantasy sports contests.


The land-based casino industry in Pennsylvania consists of six racetrack (Category 1) casinos, five stand-alone (Category 2) casinos, two resort (Category 3) casinos and four mini-casinos (Category 4). A significant job generator in the Commonwealth, casinos and the other types of Board-regulated gaming generated $2.8 billion in tax revenue and fees in 2024/25.
