HARRISBURG: Mount Airy Casino Resort reopened for business today after a severe thunderstorm Saturday evening interrupted power to the non-casino areas of the facility and led to the evacuation of the entire facility including the casino floor.

HARRISBURG: The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board today assessed Greenwood Gaming and Entertainment, Inc. (Philadelphia Park Casino and Racetrack) an $18,000 fine along with $8,000 in donations for programs dealing with problem gaming education, treatment and outreach for allowing underage individuals on their gaming floor.

Greenwood Gaming and Entertainment also agreed to increase the number of security posts, increase security staffing and provide retraining for all security staff to identify and evict underage individuals.

HARRISBURG: The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board announced today that the start time for its meeting this Wednesday, June 11, 2008 will be 10:00 am. The start time had been scheduled to begin at 11:00 am.

The meeting will be held in the Pennsylvania State Museum Auditorium in Harrisburg.

HARRISBURG: The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has approved three new grant requests totaling $387,442 to local law enforcement agencies to fund programs designed to thwart the operation of illegal slot machines in the Commonwealth.

HARRISBURG: The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board today approved the change of control of the Category 1 Slots Operator license held by Mountainview Thoroughbred Racing Association, owner of Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course in Grantville, Dauphin County, to PNG Acquisition Company.

Under the Pennsylvania Race Horse Development and Gaming Act, the Gaming Control Board has the duty to protect the public through the regulation and policing of all activities involving gaming. The Board must approve any change in control of a slot machine license.

HARRISBURG: The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board today accepted the resignation of the agency’s first Executive Director, Anne LaCour Neeb. Neeb’s resignation is effective on June 6, 2008.

On an interim basis, the PGCB announced that Frank T. Donaghue, currently the Board’s Chief Counsel, will serve as Acting Executive Director while it conducts a nation-wide search for a new Executive Director.

HARRISBURG, PA: The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board this week approved a resolution which supports efforts to invest in horse health and welfare.

Commissioner Gary Sojka introduced the resolution and encouraged its passage as a way of showing the Board’s support for equine health as a result of recent high-profile catastrophic injuries to thoroughbred racehorses.

HARRISBURG: The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board’s Director of Operations today announced that current slots casino projects scheduled to be operational by July 2009 could result in a 40% increase in revenues and create nearly 3,000 more jobs.

HARRISBURG: The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board today unanimously approved regulations governing manufacturers of gaming equipment and general administration. Separately, the Board agreed to publish application forms for equipment manufacturers within a week and to accept an initial phase of equipment-manufacturer applications for consideration through Aug. 15, 2005.
