Gaming Control Board's August 5th Public Meeting To Be Held With Public Access Through Audio Links

HARRISBURG, PA:  The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has announced today that its public meeting on August 5, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. will occur as scheduled.  Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the meeting will occur telephonically to minimize risks associated with public gatherings.  In order to assure transparency and public visibility, the Board is providing opportunities for the public and interested persons to link to the meeting through an audio interface.

The Board is recommending that interested persons access the meeting through it’s website by choosing the “live” link on the PGCB Meeting Videos section on the homepage. The Board’s website address is https://gamingcontrolboard.pa.gov/ .  Persons accessing the website will be able to listen to the audio of the meeting as it is occurring.

The Board is providing a secondary manner to connect with the meeting by dialing (267) 332-8737. This option should only be used if an individual cannot access the meeting through the Board’s website. After connecting, a Conference ID of 566982128# should be entered and the caller should mute their phone.

The agenda for the meeting will also be placed on the Board’s website prior to the meeting.

About the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board is tasked to oversee all aspects of gambling legalized under 2004’s Race Horse Development and Gaming Act and the Gaming Expansion Act of 2017. In addition to slot machine and table games gambling at land-based casinos, the expansion includes online casino games available to date on 10 sites; sports wagering offered through sportsbooks at 12 retail locations and through nine online outlets; video gaming terminals (VGTs) offered as of this date at 29 qualified truck stops; and, fantasy sports contests through eight providers.

The mature land-based casino industry in Pennsylvania currently consists of 10 stand-alone and racetrack casinos in operation, along with the two smaller resort casinos.  These facilities collectively employ over 16,000 people and, along with other types of Board-regulated gaming, annually generate over $1.5 billion in tax revenue. Construction of a 13th casino is currently underway along with a number of new “mini-casinos” that are expected to begin operation over the next couple of years.
