HARRISBURG: A meeting of the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has been scheduled for Tuesday March 23, 2010.

The meeting, which is open to the public, will be held at Temple University/Harrisburg Campus in Strawberry Square at 303 Walnut Street and will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the 2nd floor Lecture Hall (Room 246/248).

HARRISBURG: Two Pennsylvania casinos gained Gaming Control Board approval today of its petitions to conduct table games.

Downs Racing, LP, operators of Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs in Luzerne County, and Greenwood Gaming and Entertainment, Inc., operators of parx casino/Philadelphia Park Racetrack in Bucks County, were the first two licensed slots facilities in the Commonwealth to receive Board approval for table games. Both expect to offer live table games some time mid-year 2010.

HARRISBURG: Pennsylvanians interested in training to become casino table games dealers should be wary of unlicensed schools that are operating illegally, state officials said today.

"Before anyone invests their time and money into learning the skilled trade of being a table games dealer, they need to make certain they are learning from a legitimate institution," Education Secretary Gerald L. Zahorchak said.

HARRISBURG: During “Problem Gambling Awareness Week” March 7th - 13th, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board is encouraging individuals who think they may have a gambling problem to seek help.

Chairman Greg Fajt says this agency places an emphasis on the need to provide resources to assist Pennsylvanians who are affected by problem gambling.

HARRISBURG: The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board today announced that it would hold a public hearing on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 to gather evidence, including public comment, on the petition submitted by Washington Trotting Association, Inc., operator of The Meadows Race Track and Casino in Washington County, requesting authorization to conduct table games.

The hearing will begin at 10:00 am in the Courthouse Square Office Building, Public Meeting Room 104,
100 W. Beau Street in Washington, Pennsylvania.

HARRISBURG: The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board today announced that it would hold a public hearing on Wednesday, March 24, 2010 to gather evidence, including public comment, on the petition submitted by Mountainview Thoroughbred Racing Association, operator of Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course in Dauphin County, requesting authorization to conduct table games.

The hearing will begin at 10:00 am in the East Hanover Township Municipal Building located at 8848 Jonestown Road, Grantville, Pennsylvania.

HARRISBURG: Several state agencies are working together to highlight “National Problem Gambling Awareness Week,” March 7-13, and to ensure Pennsylvanians with a gambling addiction know that help is available.

The state departments of Health, Revenue, and Agriculture – along with the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board – offer information on counseling and treatment services.

HARRISBURG, PA: The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board today fined the Mount Airy Resort Casino $100,000 for allowing underage patrons to access the gaming floor and play slot machines.

The fine was part of a consent agreement between the Board’s Office of Enforcement Counsel and casino operator Mount Airy #1, LLC. The civil penalties, unanimously approved by the Board at its public meeting in Harrisburg, were for six incidents that occurred at Mount Airy between July and November of 2009.

HARRISBURG, PA: Despite record snowfalls throughout Pennsylvania that caused casino closures and made travel by patrons to the facilities difficult, tax revenue from the play of slot machines at the Commonwealth’s nine casinos was nearly 16% higher in February this year over February of 2009.

HARRISBURG: The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board today announced that it has rescheduled the public hearing for Mount Airy Casino Resort’s request for authorization to conduct table games to Thursday, March 18, 2010. The original hearing was scheduled for February 25, 2010 but was cancelled due to a winter storm.

The rescheduled hearing will begin at 10:00 am at the Paradise Township Municipal Building, located at the intersection of Routes 191 and 940 in Cresco, Pennsylvania.
